A Message from Vanguard Peru about COVID-19

To Our Valued Community and Business Partners:

In these unprecedented times, we would like to update you on the steps Vanguard Peru is taking in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are operating in conjunction with the Peruvian local authorities and our global business partners to safeguard our teammates and their families, and to protect our business partners’ interests.  Fortunately, harvest and packing are completed on our farms and at our facilities, and no remaining grape inventory remains in Peru, all either reaching their destination or in transit. We completed the last shipments from our packing house for the season on Tuesday, March 17.

Regular maintenance of our ranches and facilities will commence after a 15-day hiatus in response to the rapid spread of COVID-19. Any indispensable operators within our facilities are required to comply with our regular, comprehensive safety standards, with the additional enhanced precautions advised by the Peruvian government in respond to COVID-19, such as:

  • Frequent hand-washing practices are strictly enforced. Antimicrobial soap and alcohol gel dispensers are placed strategically throughout our packing house to facilitate disinfection.
  • Physical contact is prohibited. We recommend employees keep a distance of 2 meters between one another. Physical meetings in closed environments are prohibited.
  • A ‘Questionnaire of Symptomatic Respite’ for viral infection and temperature control has been implemented at every entry point into our facility. Those with respiratory symptoms, such as cough, fever, sore throat, or general discomfort are restricted from entering our facilities and advised to authorities.
  • The entry of visitors with less than 14 days of entry into the country is prohibited. This includes all national and foreign business partners.
  • Employees declared as vulnerable, such as pregnant or immune compromised employees, will be sent home to avoid the risk of infection. Human Resources are coordinating with these individuals on a case-by-case basis to ensure they are supported.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected by this unprecedented event, and we appreciate all the healthcare workers and people on the front lines, along with governments and local agencies, that are working to contain this coronavirus.

Please keep your loved ones close and take all necessary precautions to protect yourselves.

Sincerely,

Vanguard Peru
